Patrik Andersson: QSARs: A tool to study fate and toxicity of environmental pollutants
My research aims to increase our understanding on the fate and effects of environmental pollutants by performing experiments designed to aid the development of quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) models.
Based on experimental or calculated data we develop models for characterizing and ranking diverse pollutants as an aid in risk assessment processes. In focus are currently groups of compounds, such as brominated flame retardants, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and pharmaceuticals.
